Book Review: The Alchemist

                                                                                                                                                           Blogpost 8:

I picked up my first Paulo Coelo's book in 2008, The winners stand alone, and frankly speaking i was bored, i thought of him as philosophical writer, and so avoided picking up books by him for a long time.

One of my friend in my college, while talking with me about her love for books, was appreciating Paulo coelo and his works, my facial expression made her understand that i was least interested in reading his books.

The next day to my surprise she got me this book and asked me to read.
And since then Paulo Coelo is one of my favourite author, i thank my friend a ton  :) ( we always have that friend who actually changes our life, be it in small or big way,do you agree??)

Review:-

The Alchemist is a tale about a small town Andalusian, shepherd boy Santiago. He used to get dreams which he never understood, so he makes up his mind to travel and decipher the meaning of his dreams. Though his father wanted him to become a Priest, he followed his heart and moved on with his journey, which totally changes his life. In the beginning he meets with a gypsy, who people believed interpreted dreams and had the power. He listen to the Gypsy and followed the dreams and its meaning.  In his journey of 3 years for finding the answers to his dreams he faces lots of hardship, opportunity, diaster, meet various people,he falls in love, he goes through many facets of life.
This book is really engaging, and keep giving you thoughful moments. I would highly recommend this book to each and everyone.

Few lines from the book, which are my favourites,

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in

helping you to achieve it.”

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to

achieve: the fear of failure.”

“When we love, we always strive to become better than we

are. When we strive to become better than we are,

everything around us becomes better too.”

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the

suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it

goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the

search is a second's encounter with God and with eternity.”

“You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it's

better to listen to what it has to say.”

“Maktub" (It is written.)”

“This is what we call love. When you are loved, you can do

anything in creation. When you are loved, there's no need at

all to understand what's happening, because everything

happens within you."

                                          - Paulo Coelo(The Alchemist)

This book had taught me -

Life is indeed for living by listening to your heart, following

your dreams, looking for the omen and having faith in God.
